    Founded by Daniel Meredrew in 1879, D Meredrew Ltd was a small furniture company that specialised in cabinetry and carved overmantels. Having set up shop in Letchworth in 1914, the firm rose to prominence in the 1950s and 60s, becoming one of the UK’s biggest domestic furniture companies alongside brands like McIntosh and G Plan. Meredrew was particularly well known for its bedroom furniture, producing a wide range of pieces in hardwoods, such as oak, teak and tola. Though the company was acquired in the 1970s and later ceased production, its designs live on as prime examples of mid century modern furniture.
